About Me

Terrye Ann Stallings-Blevins is a retired Special Education teacher, Teacher Consultant and school administrator who has worked in four Michigan school districts, including a charter middle school that she helped design and create from the ground up. Her charter school responsibilities included hiring, managing and training all staff as well as developing programs and curriculum for students. Terrye has taught regular education students, special education students and adult education students in the Flint, Detroit and Southfield School systems at all levels – Elementary, Middle School and High School.

After graduating from Cass Technical High School in Detroit, MI., Terrye went on to earn a B.A. in Elementary and Special Education from Michigan State University. She later attained her Master’s degree in Learning Disabilities from Oakland University with a minor in Reading. She earned her Education Specialist degree at Wayne State University.

Over the years, Terrye has worked with children, young adults, teachers, and administrative staff, parents, and community to create safe environments where students can attain academic and social success. She has developed learning strategies that benefit children, teens, and adults. In addition to supporting students, Terrye has facilitated educational workshops for staff and conducted formal student education assessments.  She has supervised and given support to regular and special education staff.

Growing up in the United Methodist church, Terrye assisted Sunday School teachers, led activities in after-school programs and tutored young children, all at a very early age.   She, along with her eight younger siblings was active in various church activities. With her mother being an active church member and social activist in the community, Terrye has shared her expertise with community organizations through multiple forums and has been apart of protest marches and rallies throughout her life.  She is currently a member of Fellowship Chapel, where she has taught Sunday School, organized Vacation Bible School and participated in other church-related activities.

Terrye is a lifetime member of the NAACP and she and her husband are founding members of the MLK Memorial.

Terrye is also a writer for the Upper Room, an international, interracial and interdenominational publication that provides daily devotion and spiritual reflection.

She enjoys reading, golfing, traveling, paper crafting, sewing, writing and spending time with family and friends.
